Note: The adapter positions the starter higher, closer to the engine head, allowing it to fit properly into the gearbox/transmission bellhousing. As a result, one of the recommended starter will need to be upgraded. Additionally, upgrades to the turbo, exhaust and engine mounts may be required for certain engine codes. 

1.9 TDI engines are typically tilted 20° to the right, but this engine-to-gearbox setup has only a 4° tilt, partly due to the raised starter position, so there's no need to cut the transmission bellhousing.

This adapter is compatible with VW clutch kits and VW starters.

1. Adapter is compatible with 228mm VALEO 835041, ADV183076 single mass flywheel kit  and VW/Audi 03G911023A starter, &  isuzu clutch disc in the middle.

2.  The single-mass Valeo VAL835026 clutch kit (or equivalent brands like Ridex, Sachs, etc., which are aftermarket conversion kits for dual-mass flywheels) can be used with a 240mm Isuzu clutch disc and the 068911024H Audi/VW starter. A 1 cm spacer between the flywheel and crankshaft, and the starter bellhousing must be shortened by 1 cm, as shown in our VW tips and tricks eshop section.

3.  Vw/audi 03G911023A  starter and Vw/audi 026105269L One mass flywheel, isuzu clutch disc, vw/audi 053 141 117 228mm pressure plate. For extreme power, redrill this flywheel to fit a stock 240mm VW LT van td2.8 pressure plate or use its Sachs extreme-duty equivalent

4. You can also use the 240mm dual-mass flywheel that comes with your VW engine. Note: The flywheel must have startermotor gear teeth on the engine block side. Tip: For this setup, you can use the Sachs 2294 002 198 flywheel with a modified Jeep friction disc, a VW pressure plate and the 068911024H starter.
